When is it?
Our Owl Evenings take place on pre-selected dates throughout late autumn and winter. Our next upcoming dates for this season are Saturday the 7th of December 2024 and Saturday the 15th of February 2025 (February bookings to open at a later date.)
These are special evening events which will run outside of our regular opening hours from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
What is It?
The Owl Evening is a jam-packed extravaganza aimed at owl enthusiasts, taking an in-depth look into the unique qualities that make owls such unique predators. Due to their nocturnal hunting habits and eerily silent flight, you could say that a still winter evening is the perfect opportunity to appreciate their most defining features!
We start with an introduction by our head falconer detailing the history of how the centre came to be the attraction it is today, including a rundown of some of the amazing species in our collection. We then delve directly into the world of owls, bringing in each one in turn whilst we provide engaging facts and commentary - not just about our individual birds, but also giving insight into how each one would behave and adapt in the wild.
Half way though the demonstration, we will pause for a warm-up break for some hot soup and refreshments, and then return straight back to the action. Throughout the evening, you can expect to meet a range of species representing owls from all over the world, from the ghost-like barn owl to the impressive western Siberian eagle owl - and many more besides!
